The suspense over Mumbai’s next civic leadership ended on Friday after the Mahayuti alliance announced its candidates for the top posts in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). While the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) named Ritu Tawde as its mayoral candidate, the Shiv Sena chose Sanjay Shankar Ghadi for the post of deputy mayor.
Sanjay Shankar Ghadi is a Shiv Sena corporator from Ward 5, Magathane. He is considered a loyal party worker and has been active in local civic issues for several years. Ghadi has built his political career by working closely with residents in his ward and is known for focusing on basic civic problems.
According to the Shiv Sena, Ghadi will serve as deputy mayor for one and a half years. The party issued an official circular on the instructions of Sena chief leader and Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, declaring Ghadi as the alliance’s official candidate.
