Iran-Israel war: In the first sign of easing its hardline stance on cessation of hostilities, Iran on Sunday hinted it welcomes any efforts to end the fighting, while asserting that Tehran has not carried out any attacks on civilian infrastructure in neighbouring Gulf states, accusing Israel of targeting civilians in these countries to spoil Iran’s ties with its neighbours.
In a statement on Sunday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran welcomes any initiative which “which can completely end it (Iran-Israel war)”. Araghchi’s statement comes with the US and Israel’s war on Iran entering its third week, and both sides threatening to intensify attacks after the US struck Kharg Island– the heart of Iran’s oil-based economy.
Abbas Araghchi also asserted that Iran has not targeted any civilian or residential sites in Arab countries, suggesting that Israel might have carried out these attacks to sabotage Tehran’s relations with neighbouring Gulf states.
