TTGDA urges fair transfers & timely promotions for government doctors in Telangana to strengthen healthcare services.
The Telangana Teaching Government Doctors Association (TTGDA) has urged the State’s health authorities to conduct a fresh round of transfers for government doctors, citing unfairness in the transfers conducted in 2024.
In a representation submitted to Dr A. Narendra Kumar, Director of Medical Education (DME) on Saturday, the association pointed out that while mandatory transfers were carried out last year many doctors posted in peripheral medical colleges did not get an opportunity to relocate to their preferred locations.
Calling for a second round of transfers, the TTGDA said it was necessary to ensure justice and fairness across the department. The association also pressed for timely promotions, particularly to the cadre of Additional Director of Medical Education (DME), to strengthen the administrative set-up. It stressed that promotions for professors and associate professors, along with counselling-based postings, have been delayed for various reasons and need to be expedited.
In addition to transfers and promotions, TTGDA advocated for allowing private practice for newly recruited assistant professors. The move, they argued, would encourage more meritorious candidates to opt for government service at a time when public healthcare institutions are grappling with staffing shortages.
