Collector, CoP visit voter’s awareness outreach programmes

Collector V. Saravanan and Police Commissioner Kamini promote voter awareness through outreach programs and traditional events in Tiruchi.
Collector V. Saravanan on Tuesday inspected public outreach programmes conducted as part of the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) at Thennur here.
Accompanied by N. Kamini, Commissioner of Police, Mr. Saravanan inaugurated a rally at Uzhavar Sandhai to create awareness among the voters. It went along Pattabiraman Pillai Road, Thennur High Road and culminated at Anna Nagar.
Later, the Collector and the Commissioner of Police, witnessed the ‘silambattam’, a traditional martial art of Tamil Nadu, which was organised to create awareness on 100% voter participation in the polling. A number of women belonging to Self Help Groups and Integrated Children Development Scheme, also drew ‘kolams’ on the open ground near Uzhavar Sandhai.
Mr. Saravanan said that the Election Commission of India had lined up a number of programmes to create awareness among the people for achieving 100% voting. Based on the instructions from the ECI, various programmes were being organised.
