Illegal pickle unit busted in Hyderabad, one arrested; unhygienic stock worth ₹3 lakh seized
A 62-year-old man was arrested by the Commissioner’s Task Force and Kulsumpura police for running an illegal pickle manufacturing unit under unhygienic conditions in Venkatesh Nagar, Jiyaguda.
The accused, identified as K. Ravinder, was found to be producing a range of pickles without a valid licence at his premises in Jiyaguda. Officials said the unit used low-quality raw materials and unsafe preservation methods, including storing stale mangoes and lemons with rock salt.
During the raid, police seized large quantities of pickle stock, including 2,400 kilograms of red chilli, 320 kilograms of amla, 1,440 kilograms of tomato water, 160 kilograms of tomato and 320 kilograms of lemon varieties, along with preserved fruits. The total value of the seized property is estimated at ₹3 lakh. Authorities said the products were being supplied to local kirana shops, restaurants and hotels, thereby endangering consumer health.
The operation was carried out by the Golconda Zone Task Force in coordination with local police following a tip-off. A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and the accused has been taken into custody.
Officials warned that strict action would be taken against those involved in the manufacture and distribution of unsafe food products, stressing that such activities could lead to serious health consequences for people.

The High Court of Karnataka on Tuesday ordered the issue of a notice to the State government on a PIL petition, which had complained about disturbances caused to people residing in the localities around the National Public School situated in Rajajinagar 5th block due to use of loudspeakers with high volume in the school and parking of school buses in residential areas.
