Telangana MP urges quick approval and funding for Musi River and 7,444 km sewerage projects during AMRUT review meeting.
Telangana Member of Parliament Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy urged the Union Government to grant immediate approvals for key urban infrastructure projects in the State during a review meeting of AMRUT and AMRUT 2.0 conducted by the Parliament Standing Committee on Housing and Urban Affairs.
Mr. Reddy pressed for expediting clearance for the Hyderabad Sewerage Master Plan, which proposes a 7,444-kilometre sewerage network at an estimated cost of ₹17,212 crore. He also highlighted that the Musi River Rejuvenation Project, with an estimated outlay of ₹4,000 crore, is currently pending approval from the Centre.
The Hyderabad Sewerage Master Plan is aimed at strengthening the city’s underground drainage infrastructure, while the Musi River project seeks to restore and rejuvenate the river ecosystem, improve sanitation and enhance environmental sustainability.
“These projects are crucial for public health, environmental protection and sustainable urban development. The Union Government should accord approvals without further delay and release the required funds at the earliest,” Mr. Reddy said.
