Demanding timely disbursal of their wages, contract sanitary workers of Tirunelveli Corporation struck work and staged a dharna for a while on Monday. The protesting workers said they had not been getting their wages on time from the private contract firm despite the contractual norms. Moreover, the contract firm had not paid their provident fund contributions amounting to more than ₹1 crore to the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation.
