Tamil Nadu BJP President criticizes Chief Minister's focus on BJP-AIADMK alliance, neglecting law and order issues and basic needs.
BJP’s Tamil Nadu President Nainar Nengenthran on Sunday said that the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s attention and concern seem to be solely focused on criticising the BJP-AIADMK alliance. Even during the felicitation function held on May 3, the Chief Minister spoke only about this, he said.
He made these remarks while addressing the media at Thoothukudi airport.
Mr. Nainar Nagenthran noted that, “Since the DMK came to power, we have been continuously pointing out that law and order has deteriorated. The Chief Minister has shown no concern regarding this, which has led to incidents such as recent incident of double murder at Sivagiri in Erode district and the brutal murder of Tirunelveli east district Congress president.”
He added that even basic needs such as drinking water facilities were unavailable in many villages. In Tirunelveli Corporation, drinking water is supplied once in 15 days. Even in Kanniyakumari district, there is a shortage of drinking water. Instead of addressing these pressing issues, the Chief Minister keeps pointing only on election and alliances, which clearly shows he has developed a fear of losing in the upcoming Assembly elections.
Speaking on caste-based census, he said that there had been many controversies surrounding the caste-based census. The previously initiated census was put on hold. In some northern States, caste-based census was carried out but concerns raised regarding the methodology, and stay orders were obtained from court, which have left the matter pending.
He also noted the ongoing debate over whether census should be conducted by the central or state governments. Considering all these factors, the Central government has now decided that the caste-based census can be carried out after due deliberation, he said.

After being repeatedly disrupted for three consecutive days over issues ranging from the Governor’s address and alleged disrespect to the national anthem to demands for the resignation of the Excise Minister, among others, normalcy finally returned to the Legislative Council on Friday, with proceedings commencing.
