K.P. Unnikrishnan’s final rites held

K.P. Unnikrishnan's final rites were conducted with state honors in Kozhikode, attended by prominent political figures.
The final rites of K.P. Unnikrishnan, former Union Minister and senior Congress leader who passed away on Tuesday (March 3, 2026) morning, were held in Kozhikode on Wednesday (March 4, 2026).
Assembly Speaker A.N. Shamseer, Kozhikode Mayor O. Sadashivan, Shafi Parambil, Vadakara MP; M.K. Raghavan, Kozhikode MP; and Vadakara MLA K.K. Rema were among those who paid tributes to Unnikrishnan ahead of the funeral. The mortal remains were consigned to flames with State honours. The final rites were held at the Manari crematorium.

More than six years after the State government launched the ₹ 821.97 crore (revised cost) Jalasiri project to augment drinking water supply infrastructure in the city, it has achieved 63 % physical progress and 59.61 % financial progress, according to Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development and Finance Corporation (KUIDFC) which is implementing the project for Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC)

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the aquarium created at a cost of ₹5 crore near District Science Centre at Kokkirakulam in Tirunelveli on Wednesday through videoconference. Following the announcement made in Tamil Nadu Budget for 2022 – 2023, this aquarium with 150 ornamental fishes and a sales outlet has been established to attract a large number of visitors, especially children. The visitors will be allowed from March 13.
