Aquarium inaugurated in Tirunelveli; rebuilt Valliyoor bus stand becomes operational

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the aquarium created at a cost of ₹5 crore near District Science Centre at Kokkirakulam in Tirunelveli on Wednesday through videoconference. Following the announcement made in Tamil Nadu Budget for 2022 – 2023, this aquarium with 150 ornamental fishes and a sales outlet has been established to attract a large number of visitors, especially children. The visitors will be allowed from March 13.

Following an announcement made in Tamil Nadu Budget for 2022 – 2023, this aquarium with 150 ornamental fishes and a sales outlet has been established to attract a large number of visitors, especially children. The visitors will be allowed from March 13.
While an entry fee of ₹25 will be collected for adults, concession is given for college students (₹20) and schoolchildren (₹15).
The training centre created on this aquarium complex with a hatchery will be used for training inland fishermen of Tirunelveli and Tenkasi districts and self-help group women in ornamental fish hatching.
District Revenue Officer M. Durai lighted the traditional lamp to mark the inauguration of the aquarium.
The CM also inaugurated an urban primary health centre (UPHC), constructed at a cost of ₹1.20 crore, on Thatchanallur – Sankarankovi Road and rebuilt Valliyoor Bus Stand (₹12.13 crore).

More than six years after the State government launched the ₹ 821.97 crore (revised cost) Jalasiri project to augment drinking water supply infrastructure in the city, it has achieved 63 % physical progress and 59.61 % financial progress, according to Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development and Finance Corporation (KUIDFC) which is implementing the project for Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC)
