CM A. Revanth Reddy urges improved road safety measures and health checks for drivers in Hyderabad.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday directed officials of the Transport department to strengthen road safety measures, including proper vehicle fitness checks and health screening for drivers.
Issuing directions at a review meeting, Mr. Reddy asked the department to ensure that all relevant transport data is completed and made available online. He also emphasised that fitness tests for school buses and other vehicles must be conducted strictly and in accordance with safety norms.
Mr Reddy instructed officials to organise eye screening tests for drivers of Telangana State Road Transport Corporation bus drivers, as well as drivers of lorries and other goods transport vehicles. Such screening camps should be set up at locations where a large number of drivers usually gather, so that more drivers can undergo the tests, he said.
In another measure aimed at improving road safety, the Mr. Reddy directed the department to establish a dedicated WhatsApp number through which the public can report large potholes and accident-prone spots on roads.

More than six years after the State government launched the ₹ 821.97 crore (revised cost) Jalasiri project to augment drinking water supply infrastructure in the city, it has achieved 63 % physical progress and 59.61 % financial progress, according to Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development and Finance Corporation (KUIDFC) which is implementing the project for Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC)
