Chief Minister M. K. Stalin inaugurates ₹147.68 crore development projects in Salem, enhancing facilities and infrastructure for the community.
Chief Minister M. K. Stalin on Wednesday (March 4, 2026) inaugurated completed development works worth ₹147.68 crore in Salem district through video conferencing from Chennai.
Following the virtual inauguration, Minister for Tourism R. Rajendran participated in the inauguration of the newly constructed ₹31.08-crore Nurses Training School and Students’ Hostel building at the Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College Hospital premises. The training school comprises three classrooms, six laboratories, a library, an audio-visual room and a computer laboratory. The hostel has 100 rooms, along with a gymnasium and a modern kitchen. The facility will benefit 100 students per year, accommodating a total of 300 students pursuing the three-year diploma course.
Major projects inaugurated include the renovation of Mookaneri Lake at a cost of ₹23 crore, restoration of Bodinaickenpatti Lake at ₹19 crore, development of a park at Varma Garden at ₹3.22 crore, and implementation of drinking water improvement schemes in various town panchayats.
Collector R. Brindha Devi, Salem MP T.M. Selvaganapathi, Mayor A. Ramachandran, Corporation Commissioner M. Elangovan, District Revenue Officer R. Ravikumar, and others were present.

More than six years after the State government launched the ₹ 821.97 crore (revised cost) Jalasiri project to augment drinking water supply infrastructure in the city, it has achieved 63 % physical progress and 59.61 % financial progress, according to Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development and Finance Corporation (KUIDFC) which is implementing the project for Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC)

Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the aquarium created at a cost of ₹5 crore near District Science Centre at Kokkirakulam in Tirunelveli on Wednesday through videoconference. Following the announcement made in Tamil Nadu Budget for 2022 – 2023, this aquarium with 150 ornamental fishes and a sales outlet has been established to attract a large number of visitors, especially children. The visitors will be allowed from March 13.
