Koniamman Temple car festival witnesses large turnout in Coimbatore

Koniamman Temple's annual car festival in Coimbatore drew thousands of devotees, showcasing community spirit and religious unity.
The annual car festival of the Koniamman Temple was held on Wednesday with large participation of devotees in Coimbatore city.
The decorated idol was taken in a palanquin from the temple to the temple car stationed on Raja Street. Amid chanting of Vedic hymns, the goddess was placed on the decorated car, and the procession commenced at around 2.05 p.m.
Thousands of devotees pulled the car while raising chants. Devotees lined up on both sides of the streets to have darshan. Some offered salt and pepper at the base of the car as part of their prayers. The car moved through Oppanakara Street, Big Bazaar Street and Vysial Street.
In a gesture reflecting social harmony and religious unity, the Coimbatore Athar Jamaath Mosque distributed drinking water and dates to devotees attending the festival, in view of the holy month of Ramzan. The distribution was held at around 1.30 p.m.
Elaborate security arrangements were made for the procession, with more than 2,000 police personnel and several volunteers deployed on duty.
