
Writer Vamana Nandavara passes away

A former Chairman of Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy, writer and a researcher Vamana Nandavara, passed away here on Saturday. He was 80 and is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter. Nandavara was the chairman of the academy from 2001 to 2004.

Nandavara was ailing for sometime. His body was donated to K.S. Hegde Medical College as per his wish.
The body was kept at Tulu Bhavan in Urwa Stores for sometime in the afternoon to enable people to pay their last respects. Legislative Assembly Speaker U.T. Khader and Chairman of Kannada Development Authority Purushottama Bilimale were among those who paid their last respects.
Nandavara was the president of 12th Bantwal Taluk Kannada Sahitya Sammelana. He had many books to his credit. Nandavara was the recipient of honarary awards of Karnataka Nataka Academya and Tulu Sahitya Academy.
The chairman of the academy Taranath Gatti Kapikkad condoled his death.

The draft policy for “Responsible Digital Use Among Students”, released on Monday by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, has recommended that parents set structured routines with clear screen-time rules and prioritise privacy, safety, and open conversation with children on digital well-being.
