The Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) registered 634 cases of drunk driving during a week-long special enforcement drive conducted across the city between March 16 and March 22.
The Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) registered 634 cases of drunk driving during a week-long special enforcement drive conducted across the city between March 16 and March 22.
The drive, carried out by personnel from all 53 traffic police stations, involved the inspection of 45,568 vehicles. Apart from drunk driving offences, the police also booked 122 cases of over-speeding and collected fines amounting to ₹1.29 lakh.
Officials said, “The special enforcement was aimed at curbing the menace of drunken driving and over-speeding, particularly during festival holidays, to improve overall road safety in the city.”
The police added that similar drives will continue in the coming days to ensure stricter compliance with traffic regulations.

The draft policy for “Responsible Digital Use Among Students”, released on Monday by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, has recommended that parents set structured routines with clear screen-time rules and prioritise privacy, safety, and open conversation with children on digital well-being.
