
GHMC seizes properties of tax defaulters in Hyderabad

GHMC intensifies action against property tax defaulters, seizing properties and offering a One Time Settlement scheme for payments.
With the financial year coming to a close, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has dropped the carrot and assumed the stick, cracking down on property tax defaulters in the city.
With a nod from Commissioner R.V.Karnan, deputy commissioners of the 30 circles have started seizing the premises of big defaulters.
On Monday, the Khairatabad team sealed Katriya Hotel which has property tax dues mounting to ₹6.16 crore since 2017. Another establishment Swarna Transport was seized at Goshamahal, for unpaid tax amounting to ₹36 lakh. One more clothes store on Road No.10 was seized against defaulted amount of ₹35.27 lakh.
GHMC has announced the One Time Settlement scheme to entice defaulters to pay the tax with merely 10% of the interest imposed. The Commissioner has informed that the arrears will be accepted only through online payments.
Online payments may be made through ‘www.ghmc.gov.in’ or MyCURE app, Mee Seva Centres or Citizen Service Centres, a statement informed.
