Srinagar’s ecological base is weakening, its traditional sectors are under stress, and governance disruptions since the dilution of Article 370 have intensified economic fragility. Relying on capital-heavy, externally driven development has displaced local livelihoods without strengthening them. A sustainable path requires ecological restoration, artisan and horticulture revival, community-centred tourism, empowered local governance and a diversified economy.

The draft policy for “Responsible Digital Use Among Students”, released on Monday by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, has recommended that parents set structured routines with clear screen-time rules and prioritise privacy, safety, and open conversation with children on digital well-being.
