Inauguration of The Hindu FIC – AM/NS Summer Cricket Coaching Camp 2025 with over 500 enthusiastic participants at ACA-VDCA Stadium.
The cool and pleasant weather at the ACA-VDCA Stadium presented the perfect setting for the inauguration of the The Hindu FIC – AM/NS Summer Cricket Coaching Camp 2025 at Madhurawada here on Saturday evening. Over 500 boys and girls and their parents enthusiastically participated at the inaugural function.
Divisional Railway Manager Lalit Bohra, who participated as the chief guest, told the children: “Whether it is studies or sports, hard work is the key to success. You should consider the playground as a temple.” Appreciating the parents for encouraging their children to participate in sports, he said: “Your children were selected for the training camp because of your efforts”.
He said an additional advantage for children to engage in sports and games was that it weans them away from addiction to social media apart from bringing out the latent talents in them. He advised the children to continue playing cricket in school after the summer coaching camp.
Responding to the suggestion of VDCA vice president D.S. Varma earlier, the DRM said that the Railway Ground would be upgraded to ‘national level’ in a couple of months. “We are ready to offer the ground to local children. I want children from Visakhapatnam city to play Ranji Trophy matches.”
Later, Mr. Lalit Bohra interacted with the children who were segregated into U-16, U-14, U-12 and U-10. Seeing some of the U-12 boys looking weak, he advised them to be strong for success in the game. He was visibly impressed when the coaches told him that the VDCA was giving opportunities to girls on par with boys.
VDCA secretary K. Parthasaradhi, VDCA vice-presidents D.S. Varma, P.V. Sudhakar and S.S.R.K. Prasad, treasurer P. Bhogendra Babu and joint secretary C.P. Reddy were among those present on the dais.
Stadium in-charge J.K.M. Raju said that 1,700 children came for the selections of whom 450 boys and 80 girls were selected. The summer coaching camp would be held simultaneously at the ‘B’ Ground at ACA-VDCA Stadium, Indira Priyadarshini Municipal Stadium, the Ukku stadium and the Coromandel Fertilizers Ground. In all, 30 coaches, including three for girls, would be involved in training the participants.
