Ricky Rai, son of former underworld operative Muthappa Rai, on Monday appeared before the Bengaluru Traffic Police for questioning in connection with a case involving a Lamborghini performing dangerous stunts at Anil Kumble Circle on March 21.
The Cubbon Park traffic police had summoned Rai twice on Sunday after tracing the Lamborghini to his Sadashivanagar residence. However, even before appearing for questioning, Rai had secured bail from a Bengaluru court.
A senior police officer overseeing the case told The Hindu that the ownership of the car was not clear, and they had written to the RTO seeking details of the vehicle.
“Rai has recently bought the car from a Delhi resident, and the ownership transfer is in process,” the officer said.
During the questioning, Rai denied that he was driving the car or was involved in performing the stunts, said the officer. However, the officer claimed that they have evidence indicating that he was driving.
Meanwhile, the police are gathering further details about the movement of the car on the day it was seen performing “donuts” at the junction.
