Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi on Tuesday defended the VB-G RAM G Act saying that changes have been introduced to prevent corruption during its implementation.
Addressing presspersons at his office in Hubballi, Mr. Joshi said that the Central government is executing the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act as part of its vision for a developed India by 2047, with a focus on providing basic infrastructure across the country.
He said that Congress leaders are opposing the Act to conceal corruption and their administrative failures.
Responding to criticism over renaming the repealed MGNREGA, Mr. Joshi said that the Congress government named 415 projects, airports and public facilities after its own leaders while neglecting Mahatma Gandhi when it was in power. “Now, the fake Gandhis are speaking about Mahatma Gandhi. They (Congress) have no morality to speak about the Constitution,” he said.
On the proposed hate speech law of the State government, Mr. Joshi said that legislation has not yet come into effect, but a notice has been issued to Vikas Puttur. He sought the immediate dismissal of the police inspector who has issued the notice.
Reflecting on his recent visit to Davos, Mr. Joshi said that the trip has been fruitful and that international investors have shown strong interest in India.
