Murder charges filed against suspect in Vancouver car ramming attack at Filipino festival, leaving 11 dead.
Murder charges were filed Sunday (April 27, 2025) against a suspect in a car ramming attack that killed 11 people between the ages of 5 and 65 at a Filipino heritage festival in Vancouver.
The British Columbia Prosecution Service charged Kai-Ji Adam Lo (30), with eight counts of second degree murder and said more charges were possible.
Lo, a Vancouver resident, appeared in Court and remains in custody, prosecutors said.
Dozens of others were injured, some critically, as the tragedy shook the country before a federal election. Authorities had not released victims’ names by Sunday (April 27, 2025) evening.
A man driving a black Audi SUV entered the street just after 8 p.m. Saturday (April 26, 2025) and struck people attending the Lapu Lapu Day festival. A Vancouver man was arrested and police said he had mental health issues.
“It is the darkest day in Vancouver’s history,” Police Interim Chief Steve Rai told a news conference. Investigators ruled out terrorism.
“The person we have in custody does have a significant history of interactions with police and health care professionals related to mental health,” he said.

The Shakespeare Millennium Club in collaboration with the Annai Velankanni Church (Society of St. Vincent De Paul), conducted a Free Medical Camp on November 23, 2025 at the church premises from 9 am to 6 pm, with Dr. Samundi Sankari and Dr. Divya Sivaraman of Srushti Hospitals, Dr. Sharada L N of Aramba, the Kumaran Dental Clinic, Lychee and Satya Physiotherapy Centre, according to a press release.
