Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi pledges to coordinate efforts to reduce raw material prices for MSMEs in Coimbatore.
The Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Jitan Ram Manjhi said here on Thursday that he will co-ordinate with various ministries to bring down raw material prices.
Mr. Manjhi told the media after a meeting organised by the Coimbatore District Small Industries Association (CODISSIA) that the raw material issue was a policy matter that involved various ministries. It was essential to coordinate with them. “I will coordinate with the required ministries so that the prices may be controlled,” he said.
Micro and small-scale industries do not pollute much and generate employment. Hence, the Prime Minister wants to give thrust to these units. The MSMEs are present in various industrial verticals. The budgetary allocation this year for the MSMEs has gone up and banks are approaching the MSMEs, he said.
Addressing the MSME owners, he said coordination is essential to resolve industry issues and the industry representatives can approach him between March 9 and 15 when the Parliament will be in session and he will facilitate possible representations to resolve the issues faced by the sector.
The Minister released the “Compiled MSME Hand Book,” a comprehensive guide designed to support entrepreneurs with information on schemes, compliance, and growth opportunities, launched the industry–academia initiative o strengthen collaboration between educational institutions and MSMEs to foster innovation, skill development, and research-driven growth, and launched the Coimbatore MSME Database, a structured digital marketplace to enhance networking, policy representation, and business opportunities for MSMEs in the region.
M. Karthikeyan, CODISSIA president, said the industry-academia collaboration will give students hands-on training to become entrepreneurs. There are 54 industry associations and almost 2.5 lakh MSMEs in Coimbatore district. A database of the members of the associations will be useful for development of the industry.

The draft policy for “Responsible Digital Use Among Students”, released on Monday by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, has recommended that parents set structured routines with clear screen-time rules and prioritise privacy, safety, and open conversation with children on digital well-being.
