Transport Minister highlights significance of cleanliness in public areas

State Transport and Sports Minister and District Collector launch 'Swachh Andhra - Swachh Divas' initiative promoting cleanliness in public areas.

State Transport and Sports Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy and District Collector Sridhar Chamakuri launched the ‘Swachh Andhra - Swachh Divas’ initiative at the Government Area Hospital in Rayachoti on Saturday.

As part of this initiative, both the Minister and Collector joined a cleanliness campaign around the government hospital grounds and took an oath to advocate cleanliness at X Roads near the hospital area bus stop.

The Minister said that the event highlighted the significance of cleanliness in public areas, in line with national and State-level efforts led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. “Cleanliness is a shared duty. The central and State administrations are focusing strongly on maintaining hygienic conditions, and it’s vital for every individual to partake in this effort,” he said.

Simultaneous cleanliness campaigns were held throughout the district in municipalities and gram panchayats, featuring active involvement from district officials, sanitation workers, women’s groups, and volunteer organisations.

Residents were encouraged to maintain the cleanliness at their local neighbourhoods, government buildings, private businesses, educational institutions, and water bodies to improve overall public hygiene.

District Collector, meanwhile, declared that similar cleanliness initiatives would be rolled out across the district on the third Saturday of each month, with the goal of making Annamayya district a model in cleanliness and waste management. “Let us unite to transform Annamayya district into a clean and garbage-free area,” he urged.
