Following the results of a poll, Twitter CEO Elon Musk said he would find someone else to take over his role at the social media company he bought for $44 billon. Millions took part in the poll and decisively voted for Musk to step down from his current position. The billionaire said he would do so, after finding a replacement “foolish enough to take the job.” His own role would reportedly change so that he can run the Twitter software and server teams. The announcement comes as Tesla investors and customers question Musk’s attention to his electric vehicle business, while Twitter rivals saw a rise in user sign-ups and daily activity.
If you struggle to read the scribbles on a doctor’s note, you are far from being the only one. Google researchers know this too, as the company is developing an AI and machine learning model to decipher doctors’ writing, shorthand, and pharmaceutical codes. The project is under development and no decision will be made solely on the basis of the model’s end result. While our smartphones can convert handwriting to typed text, prescriptions pose a special challenge due to a unique medical syntax and non-standard names. This is where researchers want responsible artificial intelligence to step in.
In a case that highlights the growing use of facial recognition tech by U.S. private players, CNBC reported that a woman was stopped from seeing a Madison Square Garden venue Christmas show with her daughter. This was because the mother was an attorney at a law firm involved in a case against a restaurant venue associated with the MSG company. Kelly Conlon said security staff knew her name and employer before she could tell them, and reportedly informed her she was not allowed to be there. MSG has defended the decision, saying it was a matter of policy due to the active legal case.
