PMK president calls for ouster of DMK government due to corruption, demands caste-wise census and flood relief.

PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss on Saturday said that the time had come for the exit of the DMK government in the State since all sections of people, including women, youth, industrialists and workers, were dissatisfied with the corruption-ridden administration.

Speaking at the special general council meeting of the party at Pattanur near Puducherry, Mr. Anbumani said the administration had come to a standstill even as the sale of ganja and illicit liquor grew rampant on the streets. People were completely dissatisfied with this government and the time has come for its ouster, he said.

Though the Supreme Court has said the Vanniyar community could be given internal reservation within the MBC quota, the government has not taken any steps to implement it. He said that if the State government had so wished, it could have collated data and implemented the reservation. “During the last three years, I have met Mr. Stalin several times, urging him to implement it [the reservation]. A group headed by the PMK’s honorary president G.K. Mani, and a few others, met Ministers and officials and urged them to do the needful. But there was no response,” he said.

The party also urged the Centre to bring in an amendment advocating compulsory caste-wise census every 10 years. A resolution to this effect was adopted at the meeting.

The party also demanded that the State government provide enhanced compensation to those affected by flood in the districts of Villupuram, Cuddalore and Kallakurichi. The government should provide relief assistance of ₹6,000 to all ration cardholders in the three districts, the resolution said.

Another resolution urges the Union government to extend financial assistance to Tamil Nadu to facilitate relief and rehabilitation measures in the aftermath of Cyclone Fengal.

A resolution demanded a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into allegations that the Adani group bribed Tangedco.
