Three killed in lightning strikes during unseasonal rains in Marathwada, with additional cattle casualties reported in nearby districts.
Three persons were killed in lightning strikes as unseasonal rains and thunderstorms lashed Marathwada, an official said on Tuesday (May 6, 2025).
The deaths were reported in Beed and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar districts on Monday (May 5), the official from the revenue department said.
He said a few cattle were also struck by lightning in Jalna and Parbhani districts.
Ashok Mhaske (22), a resident of Kodapur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Sachin Magar (35) of Magarwadi in Beed and Abhimanyu Nalbhe (36) of Dhorwadi in Beed were killed in lightning strikes, the official said.

After mandating pet dog licensing and microchipping, Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) bids to do the same for cattle to curb stray cattle issues and man-animal conflicts in the streets. The civic body has moved to make it compulsory for cattle owners to obtain licenses for their animals across all zones.
