Three workers went missing, and four more suffered injuries after a mound of soil caved in at Hulikal Ghat in Hosanagar taluk on Thursday evening.

The incident occurred while the labourers were constructing a retaining wall along the road at Hulikal Ghat. As the soil collapsed, seven workers were trapped beneath the debris. While other workers at the site succeeded in rescuing the four with minor injuries. However, three people remained trapped under the debris.
Shivamogga Superintendent of Police B. Nikhil told The Hindu that seven workers were engaged in constructing pillars for the retaining wall when there was a sudden collapse.
“The police, with the help of Fire and Emergency Services, are conducting the rescue operations. Three people are still trapped," he said.
Hulikal Ghat, also known as Balebare Ghat (State Highway 52), connects Udupi with Shivamogga district.
