Son of daily wage labourer gets second rank in Science stream

In Belagavi, Ankit Bhimappa Karatagi, son of a daily wage labourer, ranks second in Science with 598 marks.
Ankit Bhimappa Karatagi, son of a daily wage labourer, secured second rank in the State in Science stream in the II PU examination, by scoring 598 out of 600 marks.
The student of Morarji Desai Residential Science Pre-University College in Nidasosi near Hukkeri in Belagavi ditrict, Karatagi scored 100 marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and Kannada and 98 in English.
His father, Bhimappa, works as a labourer in a cement shop in Chikkodi. His mother, Sunita, is a homemaker. The family hails from Rajapur village in Gokak taluk.
He said he was expecting 100 marks in all subjects, but was sad to lose two marks in English.
“I used to practice for upto six to eight hours every day. Challenges faced by my family motivated me to study hard. I thank my parents and teachers and the government for the facilities created in the residential college,” he said.
Karatagi plans to study Computer Science and become an IT engineer in the field of artificial intelligence.
