A 35-year-old IT professional’s organs were donated to save multiple lives in Kerala, including a heart for a 14-year-old girl.
The State witnessed yet another deceased donor organ donation on Thursday (April 9, 2026) when the family of Jai Jayakumar, a 35-year-old IT professional in Technopark, who was declared brain-dead while undergoing treatment at a hospital here, decided to donate her organs to save the lives of several others.
Six organs, including the heart, liver, two kidneys and both corneas, were harvested, for transplanting in others with end-stage organ failure, who are on the transplant waiting lists.
Jai, a native of Kilimanoor, who was undergoing treatment at KIMSHEALTH hospital here, was declared brain dead on April 4, following which the family expressed their desire to donate her organs.
Her heart was harvested and transported by the Home department’s helicopter to Lisie Hospital in Kochi on Thursday at around 1.45 pm. The organ was taken by road to Lisie hospital within minutes of its landing at the helipad at Grand Hyatt, Kochi at 2.42 p.m.
A 14-year-old girl from Mookkuthala, Malappuram, will be the recipient of the heart.
One of the kidneys was transported by Vande Bharat express train at 4.05 pm to Kozhikode where it will be transplanted in a patient awaiting renal transplant at Kozhikode Government Medical College.

Upgrading of the railway station in Mandya into a ‘world-class facility’, establishing an additional railway station at Maddur and construction of overbridges and underpasses at level crossings along the Bengaluru-Mandya-Mysuru railway sections came under focus during a window-trailing inspection by Union Ministers H.D.
