Over 81% of voters exercise franchise in Kozhikode

Kozhikode achieves the highest voter turnout in the state at 81.32%, with Kunnamangalam leading at 84.45%.
Kozhikode registered a polling percentage of 81.32, the highest in the State, in the Assembly polls held on Thursday (April 9, 2026) when data from 2,826 of the 2,837 polling booths in the district were made available late in the night.

There are 26,68,817 voters in the district. The total turnout is likely to go up once the Election Commission of India revises its figures at a later stage. The current figure is higher than what was recorded in the previous three elections. The voter turnout was 80.49% in 2021, 81.89% in 2016, and 81.27% in 2011.

The highest polling percentage was recorded at Kunnamangalam at 84.45 and the lowest in Nadapuram at 79.46. Kozhikode South (81.07%) and Kozhikode North (80.23%), the two urban constituencies in the district, saw a higher turnout compared with the previous election, when the respective figures were around 75%.

Upgrading of the railway station in Mandya into a ‘world-class facility’, establishing an additional railway station at Maddur and construction of overbridges and underpasses at level crossings along the Bengaluru-Mandya-Mysuru railway sections came under focus during a window-trailing inspection by Union Ministers H.D.
