The CM asked them to hold talks with the All Assam Tribal Sangha, the apex tribal body of the State, in connection with their demand.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday, September 26, 2021, held separate discussions with representatives of Tai-Ahom and Matak communities on their demand for being accorded the Scheduled Tribe (ST) status, according to an official statement.
Mr. Sarma asked Tai-Ahom leaders to hold talks with the All Assam Tribal Sangha (AATS), the apex tribal body of the State, in connection with their demand.
The AATS is authorised by the government to recommend issuance of ST certificates in the State.
In 2011, the Karnataka government announced that five botanical gardens will be developed on the lines of the Lalbagh Botanical Garden in Bengaluru across the State. But according to the latest developments, there will only be four such gardens as the Horticulture Department is most likely to drop the project that was supposed to come up in Chikkaballapura district.
