Gade Srinivasulu Naidu wins North Coastal Andhra Pradesh Teachers' Constituency election with overwhelming support from teachers.

Gade Srinivasulu Naidu of PRTU (Progressive Recognised Teachers’ Union) was declared winner of the biennial election to the Legislative Council from the North Coastal Andhra Pradesh (covers six districts) Teachers’ Constituency -2025.

Mr. Naidu secured ‘quota’ votes in the process of elimination with the addition of second and third preference votes. The ‘quota’ votes were 10,068 (addition of one vote to the total number of valid votes divided by seats to be filled plus 1). He got 12,035 votes.

His nearest rival Pakalapati Raghu Varma from APTF (Andhra Pradesh Teachers’ Federation), supported by Telugu Desam Party and Jana Sena Party, got 8,527 votes in the process of elimination. Third competitor Koredla Vijaya Gowri was eliminated in the eight round itself.

Returning Officer Harendhira Prasad handed over the victory certificate to Mr. Naidu.

Counting for the 20,791 votes polled on February 27 began at the EEE department building of Andhra University College of Engineering, here on Monday (March 3). Of the total, 656 votes were found invalid.

The counting staff started the process of counting at 8 a.m. The process included the opening of stored ballots from all 123 polling stations across the six districts, in the presence of all the 10 contested candidates and also the Returning Officer, and election observer M.M. Nayak. Visakhapatnam Police Commissioner Shanka Brata Bagchi also visited the counting area to monitor the security.

Reacting to the results, Mr. Srinivasulu Naidu said, “I thank every teacher who supported me and believed my promises. I also strive for fulfilling the needs of the teachers’ fraternity, particularly for the cancellation of the Contributory Pension System (CPS) and G.O No. 117 which led to the closure of many schools and abolition of thousands of teachers’ posts. These were my poll promises. So, I have to strive hard for them.”
