
SIT headed by Joint Commissioner of Police to probe C.J. Roy death case

Bengaluru police form a six-member SIT, led by Joint Commissioner C. Vamsi Krishna, to investigate C.J. Roy's death.
Bengaluru police have formed a six-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the death of C.J. Roy, founder and chairman of the Confident Group and Honorary Counsel of the Slovak Republic, who reportedly shot himself to death during Income Tax raids at his office on Friday.
The team will be headed by C. Vamsi Krishna, Joint Commissioner of Police, West Zone.
Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh issued an order on Saturday (January 31, 2026) constituting the team, citing the complexity of the case.
While Mr. Krishna will oversee the probe, Lokesh B. Jagalasar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), South Division, has been appointed as the chief investigating officer. He will be assisted by Akshay Hakay Machhindra, DCP, Central Division. The team also comprises Sudhir, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Halasur Gate Sub-Division; Ramachandra, ACP, CCRB; and Ravi K.B., Inspector, Ashoknagar.
Further, the SIT is empowered to co-opt officers, as required, from the jurisdiction or other units for the purpose of investigation, with prior permission from Mr. Krishna.
