Dr. S. Somanath emphasizes the shared pursuit of truth between science and spirituality at the 'Viveka Deepti' convention.
Scientific inquiry and spiritual pursuit stem from the same quest for truth, said former ISRO chairperson and Chanakya University Chancellor Dr. S. Somanath.
Speaking at the four-day national convention ‘Viveka Deepti’, organised by Vedanta Bharati and Pararm Foundation at Palace Grounds in Bengaluru on January 29, he explained that while scientists study the physical world, sages explore metaphysical realities. “The methods differ, but the pursuit of truth is identical,” he said.
Historian Dr. Vikram Sampath highlighted India’s rich ancient knowledge traditions and recalled the destruction of historic universities like Nalanda and Takshashila, yet affirmed that India’s intellectual spirit survived through its people.
Pararm Foundation trustee Srinivas Gupta said over 150 students are engaged in innovation, and a major science centre is coming up near Bengaluru in collaboration with Vedanta Bharati.
Yadatore Math pontiff Brahmananda Bharati Swamiji highlighted the timeless relevance of the Vedas and Upanishads.
Vedanta Bharati and Pararm Foundation signed an MoU.

The sudden demise of Deputy Chief Minister and NCP supreme Ajit Pawar has thrown Maharashtra's politics in a state of flux. The regional power equations in a turbulent political ecosystem are likely to change due to the death of a mass leader with a strong grip over administration, and acceptance across the entire party leadership. As the chequered path of succession will be discussed, throwing several names from the Pawar family and outside the Pawar family in the ring, speculations on whether his wife Sunetra Pawar will emerge as the dark horse, have also emerged. What will be the decision of the Pawar family, how will Mahayuti be shaped now, what path will the senior satraps of NCP who had accepted Ajit Pawar's leadership, take? His death has led to several unanswered questions, leaving a void in the State politics for a long time.
