Republic Day celebrations at Ripon Buildings featured flag hoisting, tricolour balloons, and awards for civic contributions and student performances.
The Republic Day was marked across the city with official celebrations and related events. At the Ripon Buildings, Mayor R. Priya hoisted the National Flag and released Tri-colour balloons as part of the celebrations.
She later received the ceremonial salute from volunteers of the National Service Scheme and Bharat Scouts and Guides. Letters of Appreciation were presented to individuals who had paid property tax on time. Certificates and medals were also awarded to 137 officers and employees for their services to the Greater Chennai Corporation.
Along with Corporation Commissioner J. Kumaragurubaran and Deputy Mayor M. Magesh Kumaar, the Mayor distributed prizes and certificates of appreciation to students who took part in the parade and cultural performances.

The draft policy for “Responsible Digital Use Among Students”, released on Monday by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, has recommended that parents set structured routines with clear screen-time rules and prioritise privacy, safety, and open conversation with children on digital well-being.
