Mysuru and nearby places received heavy rain that lasted nearly an hour, on Wednesday night.
While Mysuru district received 22.4 mm of rainfall, Mysuru taluk registered 8.5 mm.
The rainfall, which began around 9.30 p.m. continued unabated till 10.30 p.m. It was widespread and uniform, and according to the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre, Gejjalagere and Besagarahalli in Maddur taluk and Kadabahalli in Nagamangala taluk of Mandya district, were the top three locations where the rainfall was the highest, in the State.
While Gejjalagere received 83.5 mm of rainfall for the 24-hour period ending 8.30 a.m. on Thursday, Besagarahalli received 61 mm of rains, and Kadabahalli recorded 59.5 mm of rainfall during the same period.
The Indian Meteorological Department said other places where there was significant rainfall included Bellur in Mandya district, which received 30 mm of rainfall. Hunsur and Sargur in Mysuru district recorded 20 mm of rainfall.
Notwithstanding the rainfall, there was no reprieve from the searing heat on Thursday and sultry weather prevailed throughout the day.
KSNDMC has forecast that there will be scattered to very light and moderate rain over Mandya, Mysuru, and Chamarajanagar till 8.30 a.m. on Friday.
