R.V. Karnan takes charge as the new commissioner of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), replacing K. Ilambarithi. They both were given new postings in the recent transfer of IAS officers by Telangana government.
R.V. Karnan took charge as commissioner of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) from outgoing officer K. Ilambarithi on Tuesday (April 29, 2025). The latter was transferred and posted as secretary Metropolitan Area and Urban Development (HMDA limits). The two were among the several IAS officers transferred by the Telangana government on Sunday (April 27, 2025).
A 2012 batch IAS officer, Mr. Karnan earlier served as commissioner of Health and Family Welfare department, under whose purview Food Safety Department conducted widespread checks at foot outlets in Hyderabad.
