Puducherry Assembly to meet on February 12

The second part of the fifth session of the 15th Legislative Assembly of Puducherry will be held on February 12.

Briefing reporters at the Assembly on Friday (January 31, 2025), Speaker R. Selvam said the Assembly will meet at 9. 30 a.m on February 12. The Business Advisory Committee will decide the agenda and duration of the session, he said.

Sources in the government said the session will be for a short duration. As per rules, the House has to be convened once in six months. The Budget session of the Puducherry Assembly was adjourned sine die on August 14, 2024, and as per the established norms, the House has to be convened before February 14, 2025.

CM to present full Budget

To a question on the budget session, Mr. Selvam said the government was gearing up to present a full Budget in March. The Puducherry Consultative Committee for Transformation (the renamed Puducherry Planning Board) will meet again to finalise the draft of the outlay, he said.

“The Committee met last week. But it did not finalise the draft as the government wanted to wait till presentation of the Union Budget. We will finalise the draft later and present Puducherry’s Budget in March,” he said.
