Villagers held a peace committee meeting after unidentified persons defaced a portrait of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar at Mugat Khan Hubli near Kittur in Belagavi district of Karnataka, on April 21.
Elders decided not to take the law in their hands, and to file a police complaint. Police rushed to the village and began an investigation.
Investigators collected CCTV footage of the Gandhi Nagar area where the incident occurred. Police officers have appealed for calm and assured action against the miscreants.
