The seer of Lingayat Panchamasali Peetha Jayamruthyunjaya Swami has threatened to revive their agitation for reservation if the State government does keep its word. Visiting Mysuru on Monday, he said efforts were under way to organise the Gouda Lingayats in southern parts of the State like Mysuru and Chamarajanagar to join the agitation. The community, called ‘Pancahmasali’ in northern Karnataka, is referred by the nomenclature ‘Gouda Lingayats’ in southern parts of the State. He recalled the earlier agitation by the community, which is seeking inclusion in Other Backward Classes’ (OBC) 2A category, which has 15% reservation, from the present 3B category, which has 5% reservation.More Related News
