Telangana CM directs officials to be on standby, cancels leaves of employees in emergency service, directs officials to stock adequate blood, food and emergency medicines
As the Indian Armed forces launched precision strikes on the cross border terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) through Operation Sindoor on Wednesday (May 7, 2025), Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed the Ministers, officials and employees to be available for the call of duty any time.
He ordered cancellation of leaves of employees on emergency duties and instructed those who are planning foreign tours to drop them. “A strong message that we are with the national armed forces should be conveyed. There is no scope for politics or political parties at this crucial juncture,” he said. To express support to the Army, the Chief Minister, officials and others would participate in a peace rally to be organised from the State Secretariat to Necklace Road at 6 p.m. Thursday (May 8, 2025).
The Chief Minister wanted a 24X7 toll free helpline to be set up for the convenience of the people while the police department was directed to take into custody citizens of Pakistan and Bangladesh who are unofficially overstaying in the State.
Mr. Reddy held an emergency meeting with senior officials to review the security situation in the wake of launch of Operation Sindoor. He warned the government employees against stringent action if they indulge in posting “unnecessary messages” on the social media platforms.
Steps should be taken to equip the Integrated Command Control Centre (ICCC) with information cell. Police should take action against those trying to disrupt the law and order situation.
Adequate blood should be stored at blood banks and emergency medicine should be kept ready while there should be constant flow of information about the availability of beds in private hospitals. The administrative machinery should ensure coordination with the Red Cross and the focus should be on cyber security aspects. Adequate food reserves should also be kept in position to meet any emergency.
Those found guilty of spreading fake news should be dealt with iron fist as they had the potential to create apprehensions among the common people, said the Chief Minister who instructed officials to set up a special cell to curb fake news.
