NCB's search in Mysuru found no drugs, clarifies Home Minister G. Parameshwara amid concerns over local drug networks.
Home Minister G. Parameshwara said the search operation carried out by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) at a phenyl manufacturing facility in Mysuru recently did not yield any drugs or items used in the manufacture of narcotic drugs.
Speaking to reporters in Mysuru on January 30, Mr. Parameshwara said the NCB officials were in Mysuru for a “follow-up” case which is usually carried out to pursue links obtained from suspects caught elsewhere.
The Home Minister also sought to clarify that the search operation was not a “raid” but merely “verification”.
The Mysuru City Police had joined the search operations carried out at the phenyl manufacturing facility in Hebbal police station limits on January 28.
The NCB team was in Mysuru to search the house and factory premises of a relative of a person they had recently arrested in Ahmedabad.
Though City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar had also made it clear that no contraband was found during the search, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, Mysuru MP, had expressed concern over investigations into drug networks repeatedly pointing towards Mysuru after the NCB reportedly arrested one person during their visit to the city.
