Split into multiple teams, the NIA officials conducted checks at 15 houses in the village from around 6 a.m.
Sources in the Police Department said the searches were carried out in the wake of the arrest of a person named Al Pasith in Chennai, who has been accused of “brainwashing youth” via social media platforms into joining the ISIS, a banned terrorist organisation.
The Mayiladuthurai district police escorted the NIA teams during their operation, the police sources added.
