Prime Minister Modi relaunches works in Amaravati, inaugurates major projects in Andhra Pradesh, emphasising development, infrastructure, and socio-economic empowerment for a prosperous future.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone and inaugurated about ₹58,000 crore worth of works in Andhra Pradesh at a venue near Secretariat, in Velagapudi in Guntur district on Friday. The Prime Minister virtually re-started the unfinished works at Amaravati, and said the Centre would extend full support to the State to realise its vision.
These projects include capital city institutions, national highways, railway upgrades, and defence-related installations.
In fact, Mr. Modi, laid the foundation stone for Amaravati capital city in 2015, during the earlier regime of the Telugu Desam Party government. The capital works could not be completed within the TDP rule and the successive YSR Congress Party government decided to go for three capitals and halted works at Amaravati.
Sharing dais with Governor Abdul S Nazeer, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and others, Mr. Modi, addressing a huge gathering of farmers, leaders and public, said, “As we know, Amaravati is the name of Indra’s capital and now it’s the capital of Andhra Pradesh. It has peace of Buddhist heritage and strength to ensure Viksit Bharat. The city will be a leading city in IT, AI, green energy, clean industries, education and healthcare in the days to come.”
The Prime Minister, projecting the potential of Andhra Pradesh’s capital city, tried a couple of lines in Telugu and said, “Amaravati oka nagaram kaadu, oka Shakti (Amaravati is not a city, it’s a force).”
Mr. Modi also showered praises on Mr. Naidu for his agility in executing projects and new technologies in the fastest time possible. Reciprocating Mr. Naidu’s praise of the Prime Minister for his technological vision for the country, Mr. Modi said, “When I was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, I used to follow Mr. Naidu’s IT and other initiatives closely. Now, I’ve got an opportunity to implement some of them.”
The Prime Minister said that he laid the foundation for Amaravati in 2015. All obstacles for Amaravati were gone now and development was the focus. “NTR dreamt of Vikasit Andhra. We, (Naidu, Pawan Kalyan and me) need to do it. Only we will do it,” he stressed.

After mandating pet dog licensing and microchipping, Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) bids to do the same for cattle to curb stray cattle issues and man-animal conflicts in the streets. The civic body has moved to make it compulsory for cattle owners to obtain licenses for their animals across all zones.
