After the mini stadium was inaugurated, Minister for Fisheries Anita R. Radhakrishnan lighted the traditional lamp at the stadium.
He said the State government, which had announced that each Assembly constituency would get a mini stadium to identify and nurture the rural sports talents, had created the sports arena at Petmanagar on eight acres of land with volleyball court, football ground and the track for athletes.
“The students interested in sports should make use of this facility to finetune their talents,” the minister said.
District Collector K. Elambahavath, Srivaikundam MLA Oorvasi S. Amirtharaj and District Sports Officer Antony Athirshtaraj were present.
