Man held on charge of involvement in riots at K. G. Halli and D. J. Halli in Bengaluru

Violence broke out in DJ Halli and adjoining areas in east Bengaluru following an inflammatory social media post against Islam by P. Naveen Kumar, nephew of then Pulakeshi Nagar MLA R. Akhanda Srinivas Murthy.
Uttar Kannada district police arrested a man in Sindagi in Vijayapura district of Karnataka on April 27 on the charge of being involved in the riots at K. G. Halli and D. J. Halli in Bengaluru in August 2020.
Mohsin alias Imtiaz Shukur is a resident of Tipu Nagar in Sirsi. He was arrested by a team that travelled to Vijayapura. He is named in some cases in Sirsi, in Uttara Kannada district, too.
The youth had gone to Hyderabad after the riots in Bengaluru. But, police officers from Uttara Kannada were also looking for him in connection with the cases registered against him in their jurisdiction. They got a tip that he was living in Sindagi. Officers watched him for some days before arresting him, police said.
