Man arrested for impersonating PMO official, seeking location of INS Vikrant; booked under Official Secrets Act.
The Harbour police have arrested a man in a case registered in connection with a phone call received at the Kochi naval base seeking to know the location of the aircraft carrier INS Vikrant last Friday.
The arrested has been identified as a 35-year-old native of Kozhikode. He was arrested from Kozhikode. According to police sources, the accused claimed to be undergoing psychiatric treatment, though this remains to be verified.
He has been booked under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita section for cheating by impersonation and the Official Secrets Act. The charges under the Official Secrets Act is non-bailable.
As per the FIR, the caller identified himself as Raghavan and claimed to be calling from the Prime Minister’s Office. The Harbour police was alerted soon after the call was received around 9.15 a.m.

The draft policy for “Responsible Digital Use Among Students”, released on Monday by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, has recommended that parents set structured routines with clear screen-time rules and prioritise privacy, safety, and open conversation with children on digital well-being.
