Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh resigned on Monday. Mr. Deshmukh's resignation comes after Bombay High Court on Monday ordered the CBI to conduct preliminary inquiry in to allegations levelled against him by former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh. On March 20, Mr. Singh had written a letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray alleging that Mr. Deshmukh directed suspended police officer Sachin Vaze to collect ₹100 crores from bars and restaurants over a month.More Related News
