Lokayukta Police arrest Assistant Controller for offering bribe, investigation led by Superintendent of Police and Deputy SPs.
The Lokayukta Police arrested an Assistant Controller of the Department of Legal Metrology in the city on charges of offering a bribe to the Lokayukta Police here on Friday.
A release stated that one Praveen Naik, proprietor of Prashanth Oil Industries, Kotekani, and legal metrology officer Gajendra, visited the Lokayukta Police station on Friday morning to meet the police inspector and provide certain information.
Meeting Inspector G. Bharathi, Mr. Naik introduced Mr. Gajendra to the police officer. Later, the Assistant Controller offered to pay a ₹25,000 bribe quarterly to the Lokayukta Police in exchange for not registering any cases or conducting raids against his department or him.
Following his offer to pay a bribe, Ms. Bharathi filed a complaint with the Lokayukta police and took Mr. Gajendra into custody for further investigation. In-charge Superintendent of Police Kumarachandra is guiding the investigation by Deputy SPs Gana P. Kumar and P. Suresh Kumar and Inspectors G. Bharathi and K.N. Chandrashekhar, the release said.
