V.D. Satheesan predicts UDF will regain power in Kerala with over 100 seats, citing strong voter support and positive trends.
Kerala’s Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan said on Thursday that the United Democratic Front (UDF) would come to power in the State with over 100 seats.
“The mood of the electorate is in favour of the UDF this time,” he said after casting his vote at Kesari Government Arts and Science College in North Paravur.
He said an increasing number of pre-poll surveys, including those held at the national level, had predicted an electoral outcome favouring the UDF. A few concocted surveys had stated otherwise earlier with an agenda, he alleged.
Mr. Satheesan said the long queues of voters seen at voting centres from the start of the polling indicated a positive trend.
He said the people of Kerala had a strong political sense and would cast their votes after making a clear assessment of the outgoing government and the Opposition.
He blamed the Election Commission for not taking the required steps to ensure the availability of postal ballots for officials on election duty. Several persons were not able to cast their votes in view of this shortcoming, he alleged.

Upgrading of the railway station in Mandya into a ‘world-class facility’, establishing an additional railway station at Maddur and construction of overbridges and underpasses at level crossings along the Bengaluru-Mandya-Mysuru railway sections came under focus during a window-trailing inspection by Union Ministers H.D. Kumaraswamy and V. Somanna on Thursday.
